Be@rbrick Happy Kuji Spider-Man: Complete Figure Set Overview
Living in the U.S. we’ve never had to the opportunity to participate in a Japanese Kuji (くじ), but we’ll do our best to explain how they work, and how these figures were distributed. Simply put Kuji are a “Lottery”, however when you purchase an entry you are garneted to win something, it’s just a matter what you will win that needs to be determined.
This series was release in November, 2022, and consisted 81 figures total per case/shipper. Each case consisted of 1 SP Prize (400% Spider-Man), 69 individually packaged 100% figures (20 different characters), 10 100% 2-Packs (5 different sets, 2 of each), and 1 Last Prize (400% Venom).
Rather than being able to just purchase an individual figure, in the Happy Kuji campaign you had to purchase a Lottery Ticket, giving everybody an equal chance to own the rarest figures in the set. Each case contained 80 lottery tickets total, and sold for 1078 Yen (roughly $10 USD) each. Opening a lottery ticket would reveal which prize level was “won”; i.e. a single pack, double pack, or the SP Prize. The “Last Prize” was given away to whoever purchased the 30th ticket from each case. This meant that theoretically purchasing 26 tickets from a fresh case gave you the best chase at owning a full set, but did not guarantee it because there was no way to ensure a draw of exactly 20 singles, 5 2-Packs, and 1 SP Prize.
