Autojetter (1998)
Part of the third wave of Beast Wars II products in the Japanese Beast Wars toyline, Autojetter uses the unreleased Generation 2 Deluxe-sized jet Auto Roller mold, transforming into an F/A-18 fighter jet. In jet mode, Autojetter has a trio of pressure-launch missiles (“Jetter Rockets”) inside both wings. The launcher is activated by a sliding lever, pushing each of the rockets out individually. The jet mode also features fold down landing gear under the jet mode cockpit. In robot mode, the wings form his arms, with the launchers becoming his hands.
Like Autolauncher, he has a three-setting switch that changes how the toy reacts to being rolled on a smooth surface. In the center setting, it rolls free in whichever mode it’s in. The other two activate the toy’s auto-transforming gimmick; with the switch to the left, the toy transforms from robot to jet when rolled forward (and back when rolled in reverse), while the right position transforms him from jet to robot when rolled forward (and back when in reverse).
Sonokong also released this figure in their Beast-War toyline as Auto Jetter (but rendered “Autojet” in Korean). Aside from the difference in packaging, the Korean release of the figure is identical to the Takara releases. In place of the bio cards of the Takara releases, Auto Jetter comes with two “Jan-ken-pon” cards. One has an image reflecting the one on the box, with paper and the number five die roll, and the other with scissors and the number six die roll, with a clear sky and part of a skyscraper in the background.
Beast-War Auto Jetter was later reissued in the Korean Car Bot toyline, reassigned as an Autobot and renamed Scoutjet.
Stratospheric Showdown: Tonbot VS Autojetter (1998)
Autojetter was also made available in the “Stratospheric Showdown” (成層圏の対決, seisōken no taiketsu) vs-pack with the Insectron Tonbot, released in the fifth wave of the Beast Wars II product line.
Both toys are identical to their individual releases.
