Mantis (1998)
Released in the fifth wave of Beast Wars II products in Takara’s Beast Wars toyline, Mantis is a slight redeco of Beast Wars Manterror, transforming into an organic praying mantis with a pressure-fire disc launcher hidden in each foreclaw, allowing him to fire his “Twin Discs”. This gimmick is available in both modes.
Mantis has some of the most subtle changes of the Insectrons between their Hasbro and Takara decos, having the same base green plastics, but with clear-blue plastic in place of clear-purple, metallic blue paint instead of matte purple, and a Maximal symbol energon chip.
Discus Showdown: Mantis VS Autolauncher (1998)
Mantis was also available in the “Discus Showdown” two-pack with his rival Autolauncher, also released in the fifth wave of Beast Wars II toys.
Both toys are identical to their individual releases.
