Photo References

Over the years we’ve been lucky enough to have several unique pieces pass through our hands… and be able to photograph them as well (sometimes with better results than others lol). As collectors ourselves, we recognize how important it is to have reference materials available for the community, both for identification and daydreaming.

We’ve been lucky enough to benefit from sites like TFWiki, The Toy Archive, and even be part of the Photo Staff on TFW2005. We recognize that we do get a lot of traffic in search of reference photos for some of the rarer figures that we’ve had, and our product listings aren’t always permanent. So in an effort to preserve these photos for the community we’ve decided to put together a collection of galleries, and hopefully be able to give back to the communities that we love so much. This will be a slow project as we dig through our photo backups, but we hope to publish blog posts for them regularly, and use this page as a way to organize them.

On a personal note: I was lucky enough to become good friends with Brr-Icy (Bryce Rutledge) very early in my collecting carrier (obsession?). I can’t help but think of Bryce when the subject of toy photography comes up. He had a very lofty goal of photographing every Japanese G1 Transformer figure, and publishing a guide book. The book did get finished, but never seen publication due to licensing issues. I do urge anyone interested to follow the link to his blog. He was a very talented photographer, and has published quite a few comparisons guides for identifying knock offs & reissues. I think of you often my friend, and you are missed.
